News of an exciting education project is spreading across the Web this morning.
Our friends at the BBC are about to launch a new Dr Who game voiced by Peter Capaldi that is designed to kick-start kids into becoming programmers. Check out the trailer on the CBBC website!
EDIT: sadly this has been removed!
With Dr Who's assistance the gamers will help guide a Dalek back to life via a series of simple logic-based programming puzzles, and in the process will begin to pick up the core development skills as outlined in the national Computing Curriculum. The idea is to ensure that children in UK schools will be introduced at an early age to the rudimentary aspects of writing computer programmes.
My 9 and 7 year old sons have become huge Dr Who fans this year and like most modern kids are already expert users of technology so we're very excited to see if this can spark their interest in getting under the bonnet and writing code.
The game will be launched tomorrow - watch this space for a hands-on review!
