DevOps is often said to rest upon pillars of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment / Delivery (CI/CD). There are some great tools available which are constantly evolving and improving to incorporate more open functionality and support, while offering more flexible options to DevOps teams.
Similar in many ways to Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), DevOps encompasses a framework of processes - from the very beginnings of a business requirement, through design, architecture, coding, testing, deployment right through to support and maintenance - but DevOps also takes into account the culture of product development and could be said to focus more on integration while previously monolithic waterfall development phases are less distinct (or avoided entirely).
