About the course
The era of stitching together separate data lakes, warehouses, and BI tools is ending. Microsoft Fabric represents a fundamental shift toward a unified, "Data - Office" approach where every persona - from the engineer to the analyst - works within the same logical environment.
This 2-day intensive workshop bypasses the overhead of traditional Azure infrastructure management to focus on high - velocity data delivery and architectural simplicity.
We treat OneLake as the heart of the system. You will move beyond data silos using "Shortcuts," build resilient Medallion architectures in Lakehouses, and leverage the high-performance T-SQL of the Warehouse. This is a hands-on deep dive into the "SaaS-ification" of analytics, demonstrating how to integrate real - time streams and AI-driven insights without the friction of context - switching between different portals and services.
Instructor-led online and in-house face-to-face options are available - as part of a wider customised training programme, or as a standalone workshop, on-site at your offices or at one of many flexible meeting spaces in the UK and around the World.
-
- Build Medallion Lakehouses: Design and deploy Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers using PySpark and Delta Parquet.
- Engineer high-performance warehouses utilising Star Schema
- Extract, Transform and Load: Automate with Data Factory and GenAI-integrated activities.
- Architect a Unified Data Estate: Implement OneLake and "Shortcuts" to eliminate data duplication across your organization.
- Enable real-time Intelligence: Capture and analyze high-frequency streaming data from IoT and system logs.
- Deploy DirectLake BI: Build Power BI reports that query OneLake directly, eliminating "Import" or "DirectQuery" trade-offs.
-
This hands-on workshop is aimed at:
Data Engineers & Architects moving from Synapse, Databricks, or snowflake to a unified SaaS environment.
BI Professionals who need to build faster, more resilient reports by understanding the underlying data architecture.
Analytics Leads tasked with consolidating their data stack and reducing "Total Cost of Ownership" (TCO).
Cloud Developers looking to leverage Fabric's Copilot and AI capabilities within their data workflows.
-
Learners will benefit most from this training if they have a good level of:
SQL Proficiency: Comfort writing queries and understanding relational data structures.
Data Fundamentals: Familiarity with the concepts of Data Lakes (Parquet/Delta) and Data Warehousing.
Azure Experience: A basic understanding of the Azure portal and Power BI is helpful but not strictly required.
We can customise the training to match your team's experience and needs - for instance with more time and coverage of SQL or warehousing fundamentals for budding new data professionals. Get in touch to find out more.
Technical Setup: Access to a Fabric-enabled tenant (we can provide guidance on setting up a trial).
-
This Azure Fabric course is available for private / custom delivery for your team - as an in-house face-to-face workshop at your location of choice, or as online instructor-led training via MS Teams (or your own preferred platform).
