Background
Genie AI is a community-based platform offering robust contract automation services for legal and commercial teams. Its customers can use AI to draft bespoke legal agreements from scratch, carry out risk-based reviews of uploaded documents, as well as access a vast library of trusted legal templates and clauses.
To date, Genie has served over 100,000 users and 8,000 legal teams across 120 jurisdictions anywhere in the world. With a people-first culture, it won the Sunday Times Best Places to Work Award in 2024.
At Genie AI, the Growth team drives the expansion of the product through product-led growth (PLG), maximising entry points to the drafting process.
Business Need
Sophie Aitchison is the Legal Content Marketer at Genie AI. Early in 2025, the team began work on an ambitious project with a clear objective: to roll out new website content across 22 new jurisdictions. This amounted to thousands of new web pages and needed extensive machine learning and Python coding skills. No mean feat!
This presented an exciting upskilling opportunity for the Growth team, and supported by the experienced in-house Machine Learning (ML) team, the Growth team were able to act independently.
To deliver content at this scale, the team needed targeted Python coding training. With skills levels ranging from zero to moderate, it was essential to find a programme that could accommodate a wide range of experience.
However, their most unique requirement was that a colleague in the ML team had already developed a baseline version of the code the team would be working with. They needed a training provider - and a trainer - they could trust. One who could tailor the course to this specific codebase, help the team apply it confidently and respect the highly sensitive and confidential nature of the work.
The Brief
Sophie had two key training requirements: a customised programme and a solution that fit within a specific budget. She began a web search for Python courses but found many were generic, pre-packaged or too rigid for their unique requirements. Then Sophie discovered Framework Training! She found our services appealing as we offer bespoke, customised programmes that can be precisely tailored to business needs and can accommodate varying levels of experience and ability. As a fully remote organisation, Genie AI required online training to keep things efficient and cost-effective, and we are well placed to deliver exactly that.
The Solution
Framework Training delivered a four-day, hands-on Introduction to Python and Data Science programme to the Growth team at Genie AI in February 2025 via MS Teams.
We provided an outstanding pre-course experience that particularly impressed Sophie. Our instructor, Toby, arranged an initial scoping call with the team to get to grips with their specific needs, and he familiarised himself with Genie AI’s unique code before the training. Toby was also very open to involving the colleague who had built the code in the scoping call, parts of the course and the planning process. Their input added valuable context which benefited everyone. Toby also provided the learners with a thorough walkthrough for setup, which especially helped those with no prior experience with coding tools.
We subsequently proposed a comprehensive agenda designed to provide practical experience and the tools and techniques to master the fundamentals of Python and an introduction to using AI Application Programming Interfaces. This included getting up to speed with the Python libraries NumPy and Pandas for data analysis, basic statistical analysis, grouping, aggregation and handling time-series.

Bespoke programme
From the outset, the customised nature of our offering stood out to Sophie and the team. Toby was fully committed to immersing himself in Genie AI’s unique code and kept the programme content consistently aligned and relevant to this. He was adaptable and flexible throughout the training; when a team member requested even more tailored content to align with the project, he readily adjusted the programme and was happy to guide the training in the direction the team required.

The Genie AI team were thoroughly impressed with Toby’s lively and enthusiastic teaching style. He seamlessly interlaced humour into the training, and there was never a dull moment. They found that even the more technical parts of the programme were fun and exciting thanks to Toby, and they looked forward to his daily insights (and jokes!).
His thoughtful pre-course preparation was also invaluable, including materials to read and signposting to relevant website resources. This enabled learners to be onboarded from day one of the programme, and they subsequently found the course level both interesting and suitably challenging. He also explained codes in-depth, allowed ample time for queries and left no question unanswered! He always had the learner experience at the front of his mind.
Responsiveness, great communication and human connection!
Sophie was impressed from the outset with our customer experience and warm and responsive communications. Our prompt response to her initial enquiry email helped establish an immediate human connection, showing we were ready to understand Genie AI’s requirements - and committed to not just meeting them, but exceeding them!
Our Technical Director, Tom Walker, was a great touch point for Sophie during the all-important initial conversations. Tom effectively liaised with our instructor, Toby, to communicate exactly what we could deliver to meet Genie AI’s needs, and Sophie felt it was a smooth, friendly and personalised process from start to finish. She came away with the impression that we were always ready and willing to be flexible, jumping on a call and explaining things if necessary.
Impact
The Growth team is already recognising the value of the training. They’ve achieved their primary outcome - the launch of 22 new locales on the Genie AI website and thousands of new web pages. This is an incredible outcome for the business, as the team can now reach and serve customers on a much more global and tailored scale.
At the programme’s conclusion, the learners had the code up and running successfully on their computers independently, and arranged bi-weekly meetings with all course participants for around three months after completion. These sessions focused on continuous upskilling and peer support for any Python-related challenges, and at the end, everyone was able to independently make updates, edits, and suggestions to the product using the skills and knowledge gained from Toby’s training.
They also shared the training insights with the wider business, creating a mini initiative called ‘Anyone Can Code’ to support others who weren’t experienced software engineers, but keen to learn Python.
