Since 2019, we’ve been proud to be part of the B Corp community. The certification provided recognition for what we already believed in, that business should be a force for good.
But after much reflection, we’ve decided it’s time to step away.
Why?
Put simply, the certification no longer feels like the best fit for us. As a B2B company, we’ve often found that B Corp’s focus leans more towards high-profile consumer brands and the bigger names in the movement. For smaller, business-to-business companies like ours, the benefits of certification have been harder to realise.
We’ve also noticed that much of the organisation’s energy is directed at recruitment and growth, rather than supporting the businesses already committed to the cause. While that makes sense for scaling the movement, it has left us questioning the value for companies like ours.
In addition, within the public sector — where many of our clients operate — there’s very little awareness or recognition of B Corp certification. Despite its strong ethical and sustainability credentials, it holds no weight in public sector tenders or procurement processes. As a result, the certification hasn’t provided any tangible advantage or visibility in the spaces where we do most of our work.
And then there’s the cost. Certification isn’t cheap, and the truth is we don’t need an external badge to tell us who we are. The things that matter to us, looking after our people, being responsible in our choices, giving back, are what we’ve always done, and will continue to do.
As one company's co-founder, Scrumbles, who left earlier this year put it:
''We’re not interested in scoring points on a checklist. We believe in making real decisions that truly benefit our employees, customers, and the planet. B Corp isn’t what it used to be. But business as a force for good? We’re still all in.”
That resonates with us deeply.
What’s Next
Leaving B Corp doesn’t mean stepping away from responsibility. Quite the opposite. We’re shifting our focus to where we feel we can make a more direct, tangible impact, partnering with a charity that aligns with our values.
We believe this approach will allow us to invest more meaningfully in causes we care about, while continuing to hold ourselves accountable to the standards we’ve always upheld.
Our Commitments Remain
Even without the certification, our commitments won’t change. We will continue to:
Put people first, looking after our employees with fair pay, benefits, and flexibility.
Act responsibly in our supply chain, making thoughtful and sustainable choices.
Give back, dedicating time, money, and resources to social and environmental causes.
Or, to put it simply we didn’t need B Corp to become a responsible business, it’s who we’ve always been.
Business as a Force for Good
This isn’t goodbye to the values of B Corp. It’s simply a recognition that the certification no longer matches our path. We’re still committed to using business as a force for good. That won’t change.
What will change is how we do it, with more direct action, closer partnerships, and continued transparency.
Because at the end of the day, impact matters more than logos.
